my birthday was all kinds of spectacular. lots of time spent with fun people, especially jenn. one of the gifts from her was a paid trip to St. Louis.. we had a great time. My personal highlight was visiting the Schlafly Taphouse. They brew some delicious beer, definately one of my favorites.

at long last, i am finally able to play basketball/run again. my ankle has come a long way, although i still am not 100%.. probably more like 60%. i can go left (injured foot), but have a hard time jumping left. but i can still cross in that direction, so thats a relief.

the band with jake and jacob has recorded two songs (with me playing drums).. they are fun poppy funky punky songs; we are writing more stuff currently. we're talking with Doug Walker about playing drums.. he likes the songs, so hopefully we get this shit going as a full band soon. we are looking for a practice space.. any ideas there? we are looking into the place on Oak St. we also need a band name. ugh.

The Olympia Three has kinda slowed down, probably gonna die a slow death. we are, however recording a 4-song free CD to be handed out at a show September 25th with Cabin.. it's supposed to be part of Trolley Hop. not sure of the venue. thats exciting. might be our last effort.

albums i've been into lately include

- One Day As A Lion - s/t
- David Byrne - Feelings
- Michael Jackson - Thriller (man, i've never grown tired of this record)
- Birdman & Lil' Wayne - Like Father Like Son
- City Of Ghosts - all their stuff
- Merle Haggard - Hurtin'
- Al Green - Let's Stay Together
- Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
- Endpoint - Aftertaste

P.S. - I miss Michael Jackson.

after the ankle injury, the orthepedist told me i had a "level 3 sprain", which is the worst kind possible. i also tore one of the ligaments in my ankle. awesome.

two weeks after the injury, i'm finally able to walk and do some normal stuff. i'm working again, and today i went to the gym. that was nice. i still can't run, or jump, but lifting weights is still an option. and so is sitting in the sauna. i love the sauna.

music with the two jakes has been fun.. we are talking to a drummer. we are recording a demo on the 27th in Bullitt County.. pretty excited for that.

current song: Woody Guthrie

i think i broke my left ankle yesterday while playing basketball. great.

i really hate going to the doctor, and i hate missing work.. but i can't walk, or even stand for that matter. my right ankle is already fucked up, so now i have both ankles inadequate.

FUCK.

current song: The Smashing Pumpkins - Rocket

yesterday i played music with jake hellman and jacob miller for a long time. the new project is now called "Snake Tut", a name i think will stick. we have 4 songs that are complete.. only no drummer has committed yet. the music we have thrown together has been the most exciting of anything i've been a part of.. its groovy, sexy, funky, fast, whatever. i love it. jake hellman and i have been growing together lately, and i like it a lot.

jenn is cooking spaghetti tonight, and i couldn't be more excited.

this wednesday, we're riding our bikes downtown to see Meat Puppets.. next wendesday, we're driving down to Cinci/Newport to see Glorytellers and Joe Lally. can't wait to visit Hofbrau Haus. life is beautiful lately.

my carribean neighbor cooked up a fantastic rice medley today.. it was fantastic. when i told him i enjoyed it, he replied "most respect".

life is perfect as of late.

after being pelted with quarter-sized hail, i'm finally home and comfortable. life has been beautiful to me lately in the smallest of ways. i'm breathing easier as shit seems to fall into place a little.

i have an interview next week that i'm taking very seriously. i really want a new job; anything that connects to what i went to school for. i'm excited to finally have an important interview.. i've had mostly crappy ones for jobs i wasn't particularly interested in or excited about. this one i am both.

Jake Hellman and i have been playing music together for a few weeks. its mostly fast funky stuff. well, faster than anything i've ever played on guitar anyway. i'm singing and playing guitar, while Jake is sticking to the sexy rhythms. we're calling ourselves "Mister Perfect" for now. Jacob Miller will be joining us on Sunday.. he's interested in playing second guitar. we are all pretty excited about this .. the music seems to come out pretty naturally. just need to find a permanent drummer.

my little label Dunkenstein released a split CD featuring The Olympia Three and The Parade Schedule a month ago, and I'm almost sold out of the small run i ordered. that's nice to know.. this stupid band (the olympia three) is about as easy to manage as anything i've been a part of. we almost never practice, and when i write new stuff, its so basic that anthony and jake can paint their decorations on pretty effortlessly. we were asked to play Germantown Shotgun Fest again, so that should be fun. also, we'll be playing at Cumberland Brews sometime in June. don't know when exactly.

lately i've been particularly into

Chairlift - Does You Inspire You
Young Widows - Old Wounds
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mother's Milk
The Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin
The Human League - Dare!
Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Beck - Sea Change
